Crysis 2 Review Featured

Originally a PC-only game, Crysis set the bar high for future FPS games in the genre by providing a flexible empowering also sandbox experience. Though it seemed impossible to capture an equally impressive follow-up that could be created on the consoles, developer Crytek has delivered a game that captures multiple ideas from the original game while also creating new ideas. Most importantly, Crysis 2 is just as visually stunning as its predecessor, including the PS3 and 360 versions.

Gameplay... The seamless shooting, fast sprint and high jumping is great. Cloaking and melee'n enemies up close is my personal fav. In some instances you can easily bypass alot of the fighting to get to checkpoints, but choosing what suit you have to wear in battles is a cool way to get the gamer involved: the enemies can get very intense allowing you to have tocloak and flank or use the max armor to take them head on.

The helmet has scanning binoculars, and heat vision for dark areas. I liked the need to use all the components to plan your attack and defense. Customize weapons in-game(scopes, silencer etc.) The whole game moves conveniently quick. No need to pull up a menu to change things.

AI... Although many people have been boasting how good the AI is, me being one of them in the beginning, I personally have not seen this so called intelligence after playing the first two levels. Most of time the enemies randomly shoot, and somehow their bullets go through objects and walls as though the object are not there. Some of the enemies just stand there and some of them run in one direction which results in them running into an object and constantly running in that direct.

Multiplayer is surprisingly fun. It offers standard modes such as free for all, team deathmatch, capture the flag, etc. Anyone looking for something other than Call of Duty or Halo, then this is the game you wanna be looking for. Online multiplayer in COD: Black Ops is better, but Crysis 2 is somewhat similar but different in it's own way. The best innovation of the multiplayer is the use of dog tags that are dropped after killing an enemy, and must be collected to earn killstreaks. This provides a deterrent against camping. I've played the multiplayer for several days, and I'm still having fun with it. Nothing is really overpowered, and the game made camper's lives very hard. While it is a fun multiplayer experience, it is not for everyone.

This game is great, but does not live up to the hype or any expectations of the gamers. A mix of HALO and COD with different elements makes it stand out on it's own. The suit is a cool concept and the shooting mechanics work very well. I would strongly recommend it especially for the PC.

I thought this game was just ok. I rather play Black Ops online, though the singleplayer was good.
